Beer Can Chicken

As I sit here watching the playoffs, I'm reminded of a basic recipe that I was introduced to several years ago, which at first seemed kind of silly, but actually is really quite good.  Beer can chicken is such an easy way to prepare chicken and to incorporate flavor and juiciness.

If you've never tried it I would encourage you to give it a shot, simply clean the chicken completely, rub the outside of the bird with either butter or oil to give it a nice crispy outside.  Season with your favorite seasoning, then place the open beer can in a roasting pan, then slide the chicken over the can so that it is standing up and carefully place it in a 375 degree oven until the temperature of the chicken is 165 degrees.  Once you remove the chicken from the oven let it rest for about 15 minutes before removing the can, and enjoy that succulent bird.

1935 The beer can (created by the American Can Co.) was introduced in Richmond, Virginia by the Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company of Newark, New Jersey. The products were Krueger's Finest Beer and Krueger's Cream Ale.
