It's Sunday night, or as most men know it as 4th and long. You've got a long busy week of kids, school, work, appointments, and general household duties, oh and let's not forget that important one...cooking. I'm pretty sure the first person to ever think up cloning had to have been a parent, but that will have to be another topic for now let's get to making your life easier. Sunday for me is a great time to set up my week for success by preparing "components" so that meals can be put together in mere moments no matter what the obstacle. Here are some staples that are easy to pre-prep, and together they can help you put together some good meals for your family, and it should only take about 30 min total.
Most stoves have 4 burners, don't be afraid to use them all at once if you need, that will keep your time down.
Pasta- Boil a pound in some water, drain, cool completely, toss in oil and place in quart baggies.
Marinated Chic Breast- Drop in 5-6 Breasts in a baggie with some Italian dressing night before, then on cooking day toss them in the oven til done, cool and put in baggies in fridge.
Rice-Boil 2-3 cups in water rice is 2parts water to rice. Cool and you guessed it...bag it.
Grocery quick meal components:
Tomato Sauce/ canned Deli Meats
Spaghetti Sauce/Alfredo Jar Hoagie Rolls
Tortillas Salad Mix
Fresh Veggies Teriyaki Sauce
Now, I'm all for making my own spaghetti sauce, but this is supposed to be for on the run families, so now how can we use all this stuff? Watch...
Pasta + Chicken+ fresh veg + Alfredo= Pasta Premaveira / Time 15 min
Chicken + Tortillas + Cheese = Chicken Quesadilla / Time 10 min
Spaghetti + Sauce = Duh! Hogie Rolls open faced + cheese oven to melt= Cheese Bread / Time 15min
Veggies + rice + chicken + teriyaki= Chicken Stir Fry / Time 15 min
Pasta + veggies + Spaghetti Sauce + Cheese= Veggie Pasta Bake / Time 30 min
Hoagie + Deli Meat + Salad Mix= Sandwich night / 15 min
These are just simple ideas, I know they're basic but we're just getting your creativity flowing. Like I always say the food is there, it's just waiting to unite with your creativity.
