Seaweed--an untapped health goldmine.

I was recently reading an article about seaweed (nori) and the health benefits associated with it.  Now I'm sure there are many of you out there who have experienced the value and benefits if this amazing green.  However for those of you who haven't been able to try it, there are many different ways to gain the benefits of this natural weed if you can't get past the smell or taste.  It has a very strong scent, and can be rather salty.

Looking at the health benefits of seaweed they are many.  All of the minerals required by human beings, are present in sufficient amounts.  Sea plants like nori also contain a wide range of vitamins such as; vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, niacin, vitamin C, folic acid, and in some analysis have shown trace amounts of vitamin B12 which rarely occurs in land vegetables.

The benefits are almost too many to disregard, so that being said how do we use this sea green?  Being as it is very dry it can be crushed up and put into a soup, it is often times an ingredient in smoothies.  Some people eat this raw, personally I can't so the above options generally work well.  Now, this product grows naturally in the ocean which also makes it possible to pick up traces of metals and other negative aspects of the open sea.  My suggestion is to try to buy organic whenever possible, a bag of 50 organic nori sheets runs about $20.00 and 50 sheets goes a long way.
